HOw it works

how to spread the love

Getting on this soul train is simple and easy. Anyone who wants to host a Dinner Party with Love & Purpose simply needs to pull the trigger and plan! That’s it. And every dinner party is different and based upon your design!

When people learn of natural disasters in the United States, they want to “do something”. Dinners Parties With Love and Purpose give you the perfect opportunity to “do something”, bring others in with you, and make a huge difference not just as an individual but as a group!

choose your charity

Each host of a dinner party has the discretion of choosing their charity.

The caveat is that it’s a reputable real charity with integrity.

And, you don’t handle any monies, the donations go directly to the charity.

Two of my favorites are Samaritan’s Purse and Red Cross. But there are many others. Some may be local, state or national.

In choosing your charity, be a stickler for knowing that most all of this money is going to those who need it.

In order to determine whether it’s a reputable charity, you can check them out at these resources:

You can check out your state’s charities through your Secretary of State. I’m in South Carolina, here’s the information:

Consult websites like:

planning your dinner party

The term ‘dinner party’ as we see it is fluid and loose. It can be whatever you decide.

It doesn’t need to conform to a standard. Or say your ‘perception’ of a dinner party.

The big focus is on gathering people who want to help. Gathering people who are digging into their pockets for a very worthy United States cause. And, people who care about others affected by a natural disaster.

Gather people who love food and fellowship and come together with love and purpose.

Here are some tips on the planning.

  1. SELECT YOUR DATE, TIME, AND PLACE.

Hey, it could be a picnic in a park. It could be a tailgating event.

    2. GATHER YOUR GUEST LIST.

Party sizes can range from as few as 4 or 6 to 20+. It’s up to you. The more folks you invite the better.

    3. USE A RESOURCE LIKE EVITE TO SEND INVITATIONS.

  • You can design your invitation.
  • Write up a brief description.
  • Put a sentence or two about the ‘cause’.
  • Set a goal for the party in terms of raising money.
  • Put the charity link in the invitation and folks can donate easily.

   4. DECIDE YOUR MENU

Of course this is very much dictated by the ambiance, type and theme of the party.

  • It can be a backyard BBQ complete with hot dogs, burgers and all the trimmings.
  • It can be a cocktail party with nibbles.
  • It can be a covered dish dinner with everyone bringing their casseroles of love.
  • It can be a picnic, tailgate, sit down fancy dancy dinner.

Get creative! People love to be surprised and have those elements of uniqueness when getting together!

A FEW OTHER THINGS

  • Send out reminders to those who RSVP’d ‘Yes’. This is a feature available on Evite.
  • Decide upon your ‘theme’ if that’s appropriate. Or just make it a general hoe down get together with no theme at all.
  • Be sure to announce at your party the TOTAL AMOUNT of contributions for the charity that was raised. Yes! This is important because it emphasizes the collective effort of a few or many in helping our neighbors and fellow citizens. You can collect the individual amounts anonymously by setting up a station with a pen, paper, and bowl. Folks can j0t down the amount and drop it in the bowl.
  • Send a THANK YOU to your guests a day or two after the event. Thank them for making such a difference in the lives of others.

This is big.

This is important.

This is the momentum we need to get others to throw Dinner Parties with Love & Purpose.

If you’re not a social media person, then dig into your guest list and see who is. Ask them if they’ll share.

Of course, no personal details will be shared as to addresses, locations, and things like that. You’ll simply share photos and videos of the event igniting in others the desire to be part of something with huge value and purpose.

Another thing, share the hashtag #dinnerswithloveandpurpose

Yeah, we know it’s a long one, but it’s the right one!

Super important! When you share your pictures and videos on your social using this hashtag, it will then automatically stream right into this website so others can see what’s happening and for what purposes.

It’s the magic of movement. It’s the magic of all of us who go beyond just us to others who’ve been impacted by horrific natural disasters.
